Jerry Williamson was won to Christ at an early age by his mother in the spring of 1942. He answered the call to preach in 1953, while listening to Charles E. Fuller’s radio broadcast “the Old Fashion Revival Hour.”
He was a “preacher boy” at Bob Jones University in the late 1950’s and received his Doctor of Divinity from Maranatha Baptist Bible College.
As a young man, he assisted his father, Spencer Williamson, in the founding of Calvary Baptist Church, Fort Lauderdale, in 1958. He has served as the senior pastor of the church since April 1979. Under his leadership the church moved eleven miles north to Coconut Creek, Florida and had a name change to First Baptist Church of Coconut Creek.
Pastor Williamson has also been instrumental in the Christian school movement in the state of Florida and throughout the United States. He was an original founding board member of Florida Association of Christian Colleges and Schools, serving as Vice President and President. He also was on the founding board of the American Association of Christian Schools.
Adam Alley was raised in South Florida and attended First Baptist since his childhood. His grandfather, Spencer Williamson, founded the church, formerly named Calvary Baptist.
Like many young people who have grown up in church, Adam had a head knowledge of Jesus Christ. He was familiar with the gospel, but he came to realize that he did not have power over sin or a true desire for the things of God. In 1993, while attending Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC, Adam genuinely received the LORD into his heart and was born again.
After graduating from Bob Jones in 1995, Adam moved back to South Florida where he worked for the church in various capacities. In 1997, he married his wife, Sarah, and they moved to Knoxville Tennessee where he became a student at Crown College. He graduated in 2001 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Pastoral Theology.
Adam returned again to South Florida, where he and Sarah live with their three children, Zachary, Mikolon and Taylor. God has given him a desire to preach the Word and a love for the people of First Baptist. He has assisted Pastor Williamson at the church in many areas of the ministry and has served as co-pastor since May of 2012.
